A whimsical bird serves as the gnomon. The dial is textured so birds won't slip on the brass. Bird baths are finished for outdoor use in all climates. In areas that experience temps below freezing the bird bath must be drained completely and covered. Freezing of water in the bowl can cause expansion and cause the bowl to crack. Concrete birdbaths are quite heavy and must be shipped via freight carrier as they weigh too much for UPS ground delivery however they are very durable and look lovely in a flower garden.
