What kind of patio furniture style is right for you? There are many different types of patio furniture these days. You can choose from wood, iron, aluminum, wicker, or resin. One of the newest trends this year is to mix the types of materials in your furniture. For example you may use wood and aluminum together, or even wood and iron. This is a trendy style you may want to consider if you do a lot of entertaining outdoors, especially if your mix of guests often contains business associates.
Of course some patio furniture costs more than others. Still other types of patio furniture require more care. You need to decide how much you want to spend, what you use it for, and how much care you want to take each year.
For example wood furniture unless you like the weathered look has to be periodically sealed. By the same token if you live near the ocean iron may rust.
If you have to store your patio furniture each year wicker is usually a good choice. It doesn't require as much care as some of the other types of furniture. Also wicker has become much more durable than it used to be and comes in many styles and choices. Consider cushions in plaids for a more modern look.
If you have small children you may want to consider choosing furniture that doesn't tip easily or doesn't have moving parts that may pinch small fingers. You probably want a low maintenance type of furniture that is easy to clean as well.
Cushioned chairs and chaises often offer the most comfort but the cushions do require care and need to be replaced periodically causing them to be more expensive. You should look for water repellent cushions to combat the weather as well as spills. You also want to consider cushions that tie onto the furniture if your patio is susceptible to winds.
Other things to consider when planning your patio get away are does everyone have a place to set a drink, do you need any additional light sources for in the evenings, and what kind of accessories do you want to add to give it a personal touch.
